Onfolio
update
Onfolio was acquired by Microsoft
Corp. on 8 March 2006. For more details, view the press
announcement. Onfolio Aquisition FAQ
Will I be able to continue to use my current version of Onfolio?
Users of Onfolio 1.0 and 2.0 will be able to continue to use
those products. However, no additional updates will be made to these
products. Customers who want to move to a supported version of Onfolio
should download and install the free Onfolio Add-in for Windows Live
Toolbar. This version of Onfolio does not have all of the features available
in the Onfolio Academic & Scientific edition. Please see the comparison
chart to learn about the differences.
Will
I be able to re-activate my copy of Onfolio?
Yes. Onfolio’s
activation servers will continue to operate, so you will be able to reinstall
Onfolio on new computers and the activation process will work.
What is an EndNote user to do?
- Basic Web capture functionality is now free through MSN Live Toolbar.
A beta releases March 8, 2006. This new add-in does not include connectivity
with EndNote.
- The current product will continue to run, but will not be
updated with new features nor made compatible with operating system
changes.
Since Onfolio is now
free, can I get a refund?
If you purchased Onfolio Academic & Scientific Edition on or after
8th December 2005, and you have proof of purchase, you are eligible
for a refund. The following items may be submitted for eligible refunds
- photocopy of UPC code and serial number or purchase receipt.
Fax or mail your proof of purchase to:
Thomson ResearchSoft Customer Service

Can I still buy Onfolio?
No. Onfolio Academic & Scientific Edition
is no longer for sale. To get the free Onfolio Add-in for Windows Live
Toolbar, please go to http://ideas.live.com/ and download the Windows Live
Toolbar, which now includes Onfolio as an optional add-in.
Why is Microsoft
buying Onfolio?
Microsoft is making a new version of Onfolio available
for free as part of the new Windows Live Toolbar.
Will Microsoft continue
to develop Onfolio’s products?
Onfolio’s technologies will
continue to be developed and integrated into Windows Live products.
I
was in the middle of an evaluation of Onfolio, what do I do now?
Move
all the reference content to EndNote using "Synchronize Now" -
right click and go to References > EndNote Synchronization. Configure
an EndNote library to accept the reference data and click on the Synchronize
Now button.
If you would like to continue using Onfolio, you should download and install
the Beta version of the Onfolio Add-in for Windows Live Toolbar at http://ideas.live.com/.
You can install this version on top of the version you have now, and none of
your data or settings will be lost. Note: Not all of the features in the trial
version are in the Onfolio Add-in. Please use this chart to determine which
features are still available to you.
Will Microsoft be acquiring my personal
contact information?
Yes. According to the original Onfolio privacy policy
your personal data can be transferred to the new company in the event of
an acquisition. You can read the Microsoft privacy policy at http://privacy.live.com.
When your personal data is in the system, you will be able to manage your
communication preferences and ask questions at this site as well.
Will Onfolio
1.0 and 2.0 users still be able to get customer support?
Current Onfolio
customers will continue to receive online support in the form of searchable
knowledge base articles, frequently asked questions and user support forums
for six months. In addition, free email support from http://www.onfolio.com/support will be available for a short period of time during the transition to Microsoft.
Does
this new version for Windows Live Toolbar work with Firefox?
No.
The Windows Live Toolbar beta doesn’t currently support Firefox
so this new version of Onfolio does not yet support Firefox either.
I have questions about how
this is going to affect me. How do I get them answered?
For
a short period of time after the acquisition, Onfolio will continue to
read and respond to customer support and customer service requests. If
you have questions about the acquisition, please email them to info@onfolio.com.
