DAQ done better!

United Electronic Industries (UEI) offers a different approach to data acquisition and control; one that holds crucial benefits over traditional DAQ systems, especially when dealing with real-time control applications that feature both large numbers of analogue and digital I/O.
For a start, all UEI DAQ modules are extremely flexible and cost-effective - a key attribute in today's tough economic climate during which budgets have been cut and engineers must justify all spending. That’s why the cube and RACKtangle construction fares particularly well in the credit-crunch, offering maximum return on investment. With a single chassis - whether it’s a cube or RACKtangle - you can adapt the base module to suit virtually any application simply by adding in any of over 30 DAQ boards. The number of configurations is endless.
The UEI cube and RACKtangle are extremely compact - offering the same performance with 1/2 the footprint of comparable products. That allows you to pack more I/O into a smaller space or put a UEI chassis in places you’d never dream of installing a traditional VME rack. You can even mount I/O directly on the product, so you don't need long cables connecting the rack with the application. That in turn decreases the noise pick up in signal wiring and reduces the cost and complexity of running hundreds of wires between the sensors and remote I/O rack.
Despite the compact size - UEI cubes and racks do not compromise on performance. All devices boast a high channel density capable of monitoring multiple parameters and process a lot of sensor data. They’re tough too! Capable of surviving in the most rugged environments.
UEI modules also use future-proof technology that won’t become obsolete quickly or difficult to source.
Long life is an important attribute for OEMS and engineers, because maintainability is a key factor when sourcing data acquisition and control components to build into your own products.
The RACKtangles are designed with front-loading I/O boards that can be quickly and easily installed or removed.
This dramatically increases performance and simplifies system rebuilds.
The backplane within the rack contains no active electronic components, ensuring the rack itself has an almost unlimited MTBF (mean time between failures).
It also means that all active components are on easily replaceable I/O modules, offering an extremely short repair time in critical applications.
Two recent additions to the UEI Range are the PowerDNR Gigabit Ethernet HalfRACK and RACKtangle, and they retain all of the advantages over traditional DAQ systems we've already highlighted above. The PowerDNR-6-1G HalfRACK chassis is a half-width (3U), rugged Ethernet based data acquisition and control I/O rack providing two Gigabit (1000/100/10Base-T) Ethernet interfaces and slots for up to 6 I/O boards. It's small (5.25” x 6.2” x 10.5”), provides up to 300 A/D, 576 DIO, 384 D/A, 144 ARINC-429 channels per rack, rugged (tested to 3 g Vibration, 50 g Shock, -40 to +70 OC) and fast (1000 I/O scans in less than 1 millisecond). Impressive stats squeezed into a small box!
Its bigger brother, the PowerDNA 12-slot RACKtangle chassis offers the same great features as the HalfRACK, is directly rack mountable, provides twice the I/O capacity, yet is still compact at just 5.25” x 6.2” x 17.5”.
